DEWA honors winners of Dubai Government Excellence Program 2011

In line with its efforts to improve performance in the government sector, along with enhancing a culture of excellence among its employees to positively impact performance, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has recently honored the winners and runner-ups of the Dubai Government Excellence Program (DGEP) for 2011 in a ceremony held at DEWA's main headquarters in Zabeel East. HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, accompanied by Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, EVP—Business Support, honored the distinguished employees at a ceremony attended other senior officials and employees. “This occasion highlights DEWA's strategy to reinforce job loyalty and inspire employees to excellence in performing their jobs, which will in turn raise productivity levels and offer the most efficient and reliable services to our customers. DEWA is committed to adopt the best global performance practices, and ensure delivery of quality services to become a sustainable world-class utility,” said Al Tayer. “DEWA has been consistent in acknowledging and rewarding our employees throughout the years over their valuable contributions to our successes. We constantly motivate and encourage all teams to improve their performance, and strengthen their culture of excellence through several awards,” said Al Akraf. The ceremony included the recognition of the winning team of the Outstanding Technical Project from the Production Sector. The project Thermal Energy Storage Turbine Inlet Air Chilling in Station ‘L’, (phase 1) at Jebel Ali, was about successfully dropping the temperature of air entering the gas turbines to raise productivity levels. The winners included Nasser Lootah, EVP for Generation (Power and Water), Khalil Sabat, Mahmoud Bani Abbasi, Nibusia Simic, Ibrahim Abdullah, Khalfan Abdullah Al Muhairi, and Abdel Raouf Al Awar. At the ceremony, Yousef Mohammed Al Khazraji was recognized in the Excellence Employee Awards for his work in the distinguished administrative and financial category. Osama Radwan and Alawi Al Safi were both recognized in the Creative Employee category, and Asil Khan Hussein received the Unknown Soldier Award.
