The Dubai International Holy Quran Award honours DEWA

The 17th session of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award has honoured Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) for being the Gold Sponsor and in recognition its support for the Award, which is held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai. The award was presented by HH Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority. HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA stressed the importance of the Award in encouraging the younger generation to learn the Holy Qur’an, and in strengthening the reputation of Dubai in fostering the upstanding values of Islam. “We are keen to sponsor this event every year as part of our social responsibility, and our continuous efforts to serve and support community-based initiatives that highlight our Islamic culture and values, and strengthen Dubai’s position as a cultural destination regionally and globally,” he added. Al Tayer praised the efforts of the Award’s organisers, stating that it has become an international initiative that attracts scholars from all over the world and promotes the social environment of the Emirate of Dubai and the UAE, in addition to supporting talent from all over the world. The award promotes and encourages studying of the holy book, as well as social values in the Emirate of Dubai, and the UAE in general, to achieve its objective to raise interest in volunteer work. HE Ibrahim Mohammed Bumelha, Cultural and Humanitarian Advisor of the Ruler of Dubai, and Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award, praised the role of DEWA in supporting the Award and its success, stressing that DEWA has become an example in the field of community service. DEWA was represented by Arif Julfar, Manager of Media and Marketing who received the plaque of appreciation for DEWA’s role in supporting the award.
