Supreme Council of Energy hosts technical workshop for Dubai Government departments

The Dubai Supreme Council of Energy has hosted a technical workshop for Dubai Government organisations to present its Demand Side Management strategy. The workshop was attended by HE Ahmed Butti Al Muhairbi, Secretary General of the Council, and 25 representatives of various government departments in Dubai. “In line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and in fulfillment of the Green Economy for Sustainable Development initiative launched by His Highness, Dubai Government is committed to positioning itself as an international model by setting up the highest standards in the field of energy efficiency. It is essential to implement a strategy that reduces demand for energy to face the energy challenges in the region, and preserve our natural resources to create a sustainable future, for generations to come. This is the reason why have undertaken this initiative to reduce demand for energy. The Supreme Council of Energy is preparing to establish an office to manage energy projects and to implement the Demand Side Management by 2030,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy. “It is essential to manage electricity and water consumption in Dubai to further enhance efficiency and sustainability. Demand Side Management will reduce demand for electricity by 30% and demand for water by 40% by 2030. Through this workshop, we aim to boost collaboration between the public and private sectors to put this strategy into action to achieve sustainability for Dubai,” said Al Muhairbi. The workshop demonstrated the structure and mechanisms of the Dubai Integrat ed Energy Strategy 2030 and included brainstorming sessions for participants to set up mechanisms for implementing the strategy. The Supreme Council of Energy works to reduce electricity and water consumption to achieve environmental sustainability in Dubai, in line with the objectives of the Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030 to enhance energy efficiency in Dubai.
