DEWA honours 34 employees for best suggestions Dubai, UAE; 20 April, 2014: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) honoured 34 employees for their suggestions for improvement and their outstanding contribution to the organisation as part of the ‘Tawasol Suggestion scheme’ of DEWA. The 34 suggestions were implemented in line with DEWA’s commitment to recognise the creativity and innovative approaches suggested by its employees. HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, honoured the employees in the presence of Maryam Al-Mutaiwei, Vice President of Human Resources, senior managers and staff. “The Award ceremony comes in line with the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to support the creative work of employees, and appreciate their efforts. It also highlights our commitment to embrace creative ideas and honour distinguished employees, in turn helping them achieve job satisfaction and enhance the efficiency of services provided. I congratulate all the winners for their considerable efforts, which have contributed to improving the working environment and providing a high level of efficiency and excellence,” said HE Al Tayer. “DEWA’s Human Resources Management is focused on strengthening its communication with the employees, with the “Tawasol Suggestion Scheme” enabling our staff to provide their suggestions electronically. The scheme stimulates our employees’ creative thinking, and build an environment that encourages them to provide their constructive suggestions,” said Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support & Human Resources. Al Tayer also honoured the winners of Best Idea 2014 event held in Hamburg, Germany, including: Abdullah Al Aghbari, Vice President of Distribution Planning at DEWA, Mariam AlNeaimi, Ameen Abu Alshawareb, Muhannad Rizk Ashaar, Mahmoud Mazen Jaber, Mohammed Yousef Al Rahmeh, Amal Ali Saif Hammoudi, Shfeth Dayruth, Raji Joseph, and Mohammad Ershad. The award was for their tailor-made Ring Design Factor (RDF) for Dubai, aimed at ensuring sustainable and seamless supply of power to customers. The 10-member team at DEWA had developed the pioneering idea after it was observed that in designing the Distribution Power Network of new mega projects in Dubai, international companies took into consideration only certain factors such as load type. Al Tayer also honoured “Tawasol Suggestions” staff for their implemented suggestions. The winners include: Sreeyesh Poovathum Kandy, Zain Shahid Qureshi, Ibrahim Abou Hashim, A. T.
