The Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and Dubai Petroleum celebrated UAE Flag Day, in conjunction with all ministries, departments, and government organisations in the UAE. HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, called for the celebration of Flag Day on 3 November each year, the day HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan became President of the UAE. HE Ahmed Butti Al Muhairbi, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Energy, Abdulaziz Janahi, Director of External Affairs at Dubai Petroleum, Dr. Omar Shams, Director of Human Resources at Dubai Petroleum, and directors and executives from both organisations raised the UAE flag at 12 o'clock noon on Monday, 3 November, 2014 at the Supreme Council of Energy headquarters in Dubai. “Flag Day is a precious occasion for all of us. The flag is a symbol of belonging and loyalty, and represents our unity and strength. It is part of our identity and belonging to this generous nation. Today, we also celebrate the accession of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. We express our allegiance to this nation and our pride in belonging to this land. We commit to do our best to achieve the development of the UAE in line with the words of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum who said, “The UAE flag represents the unity of our determination, will and potential. It also represents the unity of our homeland and our shared vision and future and it unifies our hearts to adore our homeland and mobilises our energy and resources to build the future of our nation,”” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Supreme Council of Energy. “The progress of nations depends on several elements, including cohesion between the leader and the people. Today, we reap the fruits of what His Highness the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, had planted, from belonging to this land, hard work and working towards a brighter future,” said Al Muhairbi. A number of activities marked Flag Day at the Supreme Council of Energy. These included lectures to staff about the UAE flag, its colours, and the different kinds of flags. The offices were decorated with UAE flags and flags were distributed to employees.
