Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA) is organising an Excellence Camp for its employees to train and equip candidates for the 19th Dubai Government Excellence Program (DGEP) Award. The camp, which is part of DEWA’s preparations to take part in DGEP 2016, supports its corporate vision to consolidate excellence among its staff. The Excellence Camp, which will be held in two phases, provides an ideal environment for candidates to prepare them for the DGEP Award 2016. Excellence experts from DEWA’s Corporate Excellence department will oversee the training programme at the camp. During the camp, research and reports that were assigned to staff in preparation for the DGEP Award, will be studied and evaluated. The Award is organised by DGEP, which is part of the Secretariat General of the Dubai Executive Council. DEWA’s first Excellence Camp will be held from 6-9 September 2015. The second camp will be held from 13-16 September 2015 in Raffles hotel, Dubai. The two camps will host 165 staff from different divisions. Last year, DEWA won four awards at the 18th DGEP Awards. These were the Distinguished Technical Project for phase 1 of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, a special honour for DEWA for organising Earth Hour, the Distinguished Female Employee, and the Unknown Soldier Award. “This remarkable step supports the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to enhance government performance to the highest international standards. It is part of our strategy to develop the capabilities of our technical teams and enhance corporate excellence among them. We are committed to applying the highest international standards in all administrative and operational processes. We adopt the best international practices that support our objectives to reach the highest levels of service excellence and make our customers happier and more satisfied. This supports our vision to become a sustainable innovative world-class utility,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA. “Dubai Government Excellence Programme is the first of its kind in the world to manage excellence in the government sector. Since its launch, it has been pioneer in raising leading and creative concepts, and carrying the excellence message to support the development of the government sector in Dubai, and establish the Emirate’s position as a leading advanced global hub for business. The programme has played a key role in preparing an environment that motivates excellence and instils excellence in performance and work, and maximising outputs. It has been one of the most efficient ways to help government organisations in Dubai achieve remarkable progress in their performance, services, and continuous improvement,” added Al Tayer. The two Excellence Camps DEWA is organising will feature different activities to motivate candidates’ excellence thinking and planning. They will also have presentations on DEWA’s work and plans to enhance corporate excellence, and the objectives and direction of the corporate excellence team at DEWA. There will also be discussion sessions to review and evaluate research and presentations with staff to improve applications and qualify them in better ways by promoting collective research and giving necessary directions to candidates. The Excellence Camp will also include workshops to highlight various topics such as positive energy at the work place, self-motivation, and other topics that develop staff and enhance their excellence. The camp programme will have question-and-answer sessions between staff and excellence experts, and another sessions to discuss the camp’s outputs and results.
