Note by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the UAE Water Aid Foundation on launching the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives

“I congratulate His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for launching the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives. We are proud of this pioneering organisation which is, similar to the initiatives of His Highness, not limited to the National level, but extends globally to serve all categories, particularly the humanitarian side. The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives is the largest global combination of initiatives that harnesses resources for the benefit of mankind. It will do this developing education, health, studies, and energy and water research. 

His Highness has described water shortage as a key challenge that will face the region in the coming period,” said Al Tayer. “At the UAE Water Aid Foundation, we promise His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to do our best to achieve his vision of establishing it and the noble intention of enhancing the global position of the UAE and supporting countries around the world by coordinating humanitarian efforts and initiatives to improve the living conditions of poor and disaster-stricken areas, and achieve the sustainable development of all humanity. The Foundation supports international efforts to provide clean potable water to millions of people around the world. 

It also conducts studies and research to support the efforts to produce water using solar power, contribute to financing and supporting water-technology projects to combat drought, and supervise a million-dollar annual award for researches that develop new technologies and mechanisms to produce water using solar power,” added Al Tayer.
