DEWA hosts 9th Anwar Dubai mass wedding for 53 Emirati employees

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) organised its ninth Anwar Dubai mass wedding for 53 of DEWA’s Emirati employees at a ceremony held under the patronage and in the presence of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and President of DEWA, at Za’beel Park in Dubai. HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum was welcomed by HE Matar Humaid Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board of Directors of DEWA, and HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, along with other board members, directors, managers, and VIPs. The mass wedding is part of DEWA’s CSR strategy, and its commitment to making employees happy.

The ceremony was attended by HH Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, HH Sheikh Saeed bin Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, HE Saeed Al Kindi, HE Mohammed Khalifa Al Habtoor, HE General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, Lt. General Mohammed Abdul Rahim Al Ali, Assistant Under Secretary at the Ministry of Defence, HE Abdullah Al Shaibani, Secretary-General of the Dubai Executive Council, HE Majid Hamad Al Shamsi, HE Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs, HE Khaled Al Kamda, Director General of the Community Development Authority (CDA), Salem Al Moosa, HE Abdulla Jasim bin Kalban, MD & CEO of Emirates Global Aluminium, and HE Ahmed Al Shafar, CEO of Empower. Senior officials, employees, and relatives of the brides and grooms also attended.

Al Tayer emphasised that DEWA’s mass wedding has helped employees achieve psychological, familial, and career stability for the past 9 years. It also reduces the costs of getting married. This achieves happiness and contributes to creating a positive work environment, increasing productivity and DEWA’s level of excellence, and enhancing the level of loyalty among employees.

Al Tayer thanked HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum for his continuous sponsorship, honouring DEWA and its employees though his participation in this happy occasion. He personally congratulated each bride and groom, and wished them the best of luck on their new lives, wishing them stable and happy family lives.

Towards the end of the mass wedding, Al Tayer honoured the brides and grooms, along with HE Saeed Al Kendi, and Salem Al Moosa.

The ceremony featured a host of traditional activities and shows such as Ayala and Harbiya dances, in addition to a video about traditional Emirati weddings, and a musical written by the Emirati poet Ali Al Khawar.
