DEWA organises a hiking trip at Hatta

The Sports Committee of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has organised a 13 km hiking trip at Hatta. This is part of its strategy to encourage employees to adopt a healthy lifestyle and make physical activity part of their daily lives. Trained mountain guides who hold Wilderness First Aid certificates led the trip which included 120 employees. The trip also included kayaking and a traditional Emirati lunch at the old Hatta fields.

“DEWA follows the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to make Dubai the happiest city in the world. We are committed to our social responsibility towards the employees and to make them happy. We believe that sports are an important pillar of the comprehensive developmental growth in the UAE. We are committed to strengthening the physical and mental abilities of DEWA’s employees and providing them a positive and motivating work environment that helps them achieve a work-life balance. We also encourage them to participate in various sports activities for promoting a healthy and active lifestyle. We are glad to engage DEWA employees in various sports championships, and establishing internal sport events and activities at DEWA. Sport has a great impact on self-improvement, skill enhancement, teamwork, positive thinking, strengthening family bonds and enabling staff from various departments and sectors to get to know each other outside working hours. This enhances their loyalty and positively affects their professional and personal lives,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

“DEWA is one of the leading government organisations to support sports in the UAE, by organising internal tournaments, and participating in various national and international competitions and championships,” he added.

“DEWA's top management is keen on involving employees in various activities that are beneficial to them and DEWA. We are glad about the big turnout of employees in this sports trip at Hatta, which represents the authenticity of the UAE. DEWA believes that human resources are its real capital, and therefore spares no effort to work on their happiness and provide all the necessary support to develop their capabilities and unleash their potential to a broad horizon of creativity and innovation in a unique environment dominated by the spirit of harmony and human and cultural rapprochement,” said Dr Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources and Chairman of the Sports Committee at DEWA.
