Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is participating in the 4th Aqdar World Summit, as the Platinum Sponsor of the event. An initiative of Khalifa Empowerment Program, the summit brings together leading companies and organisations from all over the world until 30 October 2021 at the Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo 2020 Dubai.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, emphasised that the Aqdar Summit has become a key knowledge platform that the UAE offers to the world to exchange experiences and best practices, with the participation of prominent leaders, decision-makers, experts, and professionals from around the world to come up with innovative solutions to empower societies and ensure their prosperity.

“We are pleased that DEWA is the platinum sponsor of the 4th Aqdar World Summit, organised under the theme ‘Positive Global Citizenship – Empowerment of Sustainable Investment Opportunities’. The summit supports the UAE’s efforts to promote meaningful and constructive dialogue and its plans to bring countries and people together to exchange experiences and best practices on empowering societies in their human, cultural and intellectual aspects. The summit also reflects the vision and directives of the wise leadership for the UAE to be a centre of civilisational and cultural inspiration for the region and the world. Moreover, organising the summit at Expo 2020 Dubai, which brings the world together, consolidates the UAE’s position as an incubator for creativity and innovation and as a global hub for shaping the future and promoting sustainable development worldwide,” added Al Tayer.

“Through DEWA’s participation in the summit, we show Dubai’s experience in the transition towards renewable and clean energy. The share of clean energy capacity in Dubai’s energy mix has reached around 10%, with plans to reach 13.3% by the end of Q1 of 2022. We are diversifying the sources of clean energy production to include all available technologies such as solar photovoltaic systems, Concentrated Solar Power (CSP), green hydrogen production using solar power, pumped-storage water technology, and the possibility of electricity generation from wind power,” added Al Tayer.

Through its pavilion at the Aqdar World Summit, DEWA displays a number of its most prominent projects, including the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest single-site solar park in the world; the Green Hydrogen project, the first solar-powered project of its kind in the MENA region; Al-Shera’a building, DEWA’s new headquarters, which will be the tallest, largest, and smartest government Net Zero Energy Building in the world, and DEWA’s Innovation Centre at Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.
