Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has successfully concluded its annual Ramadan awareness campaign to highlight the noble values of Ramadan, which is against all forms of wastage, while extending a helping hand to all, promoting solidarity, altruism and tolerance.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, praised the widespread turnout of the Ramadan campaign. He noted that the increased interest in conservation of electricity and water and preserving of valuable natural resources, supports the efforts of DEWA and the wise leadership to engage all members of society in the sustainable and comprehensive development process.

“The blessed month of Ramadan is an opportunity to get rid of behaviour that is harmful to the environment and society. As part of its vision to become a globally leading sustainable innovative corporation, DEWA launches many programmes and initiatives throughout the year, provides conservation tips on its website and smart app, and harnesses the latest disruptive technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution to provide smart and innovative services that facilitate the lives of customers and help them reduce electricity and water consumption,” added Al Tayer.

“At DEWA, we believe that the conservation of natural resources is a moral and national obligation, and we work to encourage all members of society to deal wisely with our resources, and to follow the approach of the Founding Fathers who instinctively realised the need to preserve the environment and consume only according to their need. This ensures the sustainability of resources for generations to come,” said Khawla Al Mehairi, Executive Vice President of Strategy and Government Communications at DEWA.

During its Ramadan campaign, DEWA organised 21 virtual and in-person awareness lectures with the participation of 4567 people, to encourage society members to adopt conservation and a sustainable lifestyle to reduce their carbon footprint. The campaign targeted senior citizens, people of determination, Quran recitation centres, participants of the Ramadan Aman campaign, sports clubs, orphanages and new Muslims. The happiness of the participants of the lectures reached 95%. DEWA held several activities, competitions and internal lectures in Arabic and English to raise awareness of Islamic principles which are based on strengthening the bonds of compassion and benevolence.

Finally, DEWA launched an internal campaign in conjunction with Zayed Humanitarian Day, recognising the rich legacy of the late Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed. DEWA dedicated a special section on its internal website (Freejna), to introduce the spirit of the Holy Month with its authentic Islamic and Arab values and principles. DEWA also organised a Ramadan gathering to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and solidarity among its employees.
