DEWA visits over 20 public schools to instil positivity at the start of the new academic year

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) organised visits to more than 20 public schools in Dubai. The visits aimed to encourage over 12,000 students, as well as faculty members and parents of students, to start the new academic year with positivity, interest, and perseverance and enhance loyalty and belonging to the UAE. DEWA handed out gifts to students and organised entertainment and awareness activities to motivate them to adopt a responsible and sustainable lifestyle and follow the Emirati noble values of avoiding waste. The activities were timed to start with the new school year and are part of DEWA’s social responsibility.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, emphasised that DEWA attaches great importance to qualifying and empowering youth and the new generation to actively participate in sustainable development. DEWA realises that today’s youth are tomorrow’s leaders and the cornerstone of a brighter future for generations to come. Al Tayer highlighted DEWA’s commitment to strengthening national identity among the sons and daughters of the UAE and reinforcing the Emirati community’s values of fairness, tolerance, goodness, and solidarity.

The visits lasted for two weeks and included a comprehensive programme with awareness lectures to introduce the new generation to the importance of natural resources and ways to preserve them. DEWA’s cartoon characters, Noor and Hayat, who represent electricity and water, participated in several entertainment and educational activities. The activities aimed to encourage students to follow simple daily behaviours to protect the environment, and to always act responsibly.

Since 2017, DEWA has been organising school visits in conjunction with every new school year. Since then, DEWA has successfully raised awareness of over 19,000 students on ways to enhance the efficiency of water and electricity consumption and preserve natural resources.
