The celebrations highlighted the UAE’s sustainable cultural legacy
In a distinguished patriotic atmosphere filled with the spirit of love and belonging to the homeland, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) celebrated the 52nd Union Day, in the presence of HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.
Executive Vice Presidents and Vice Presidents, as well as a large number of employees took part in the celebrations. DEWA marked the National occasion by organising several activities that highlighted the UAE’s history and the culture and heritage of the Emirati society, as well as the UAE’s path of sustainability and its sustainable cultural legacy.
Al Tayer extended his warmest congratulations to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; Their Highnesses the Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of the Emirates; Their Highnesses the Crown Princes and Deputy Rulers; and the citizens and residents of the UAE.
Al Tayer indicated that the 52nd Union Day, which we celebrate in the Year of Sustainability, during which the UAE is hosting the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), underlines the UAE’s leading role in international climate action. Since its establishment, the UAE has consolidated the pillars of a pioneering development model that has succeeded in achieving a balance between development and preserving the environment and natural resources.
“On the Union Day, the UAE celebrates the strong will, determination, and wisdom of the Founding Fathers, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, may their souls rest in peace, as they laid the foundations of the Union. Within a few decades, the UAE has become a global role model in progress, prosperity, and development, topping global indicators in many fields. The path of excellence continues thanks to the vision and directives of the wise leadership and with the efforts of Emiratis who work day and night, realising new accomplishments every day to keep the nation’s flag fluttering high in all international forums, on Earth as well as in space. Accomplishments and excellence, as His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said, have no limits and excellence is a path that has one beginning and an endless horizon,” said Al Tayer.
“On this day, we thank Allah Almighty for blessing us with a wise leadership that spares no effort to achieve the wellbeing and happiness of citizens, residents, and visitors. Our leadership has made the UAE an oasis of prosperity, security, and safety, and its name has become synonymous with excellence and anticipating and shaping the future. As we celebrate this special occasion, we are pleased that Dubai Electricity and Water Authority is part in the UAE’s accomplishments and supports its directions to achieve net zero by 2050 through globally leading projects in the clean and renewable energy sector,” added Al Tayer.
“As we celebrate the 52nd Union Day, we renew our pledge of loyalty and belonging to our wise leadership and the United Arab Emirates under the Flag of the Union. We will continue our efforts to return the favour to our country and protect our national gains, inspired by the ‘Spirit of the Union,’ which motivates our determination and energizes efforts in order to preserve the nation’s achievements and gains and achieve the vision of the wise leadership to make the UAE the world’s leading nation by its Centennial in 2071,” concluded Al Tayer.
