In line with its social responsibility, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced its platinum sponsorship of the 27th Dubai International Holy Quran Award as it does annually. The award, recognised as one of the most prestigious awards and competitions worldwide for the Holy Quran, brings together an array of scholars, preachers, and Quran reciters.
“The Dubai International Holy Quran Award, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has become one of the most prominent awards in the world, with a primary objective of fostering a spirit of competition in Holy Quran memorisation. The award motivates the younger generations to adhere to their religion and fulfil their responsibilities towards Islam, which is based on goodness, tolerance, and cohesion. The award reflects Dubai and the UAE’s commitment in caring for the Holy Quran, honouring its memorisers, and consolidating noble human and Islamic values and principles in the hearts of society members,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.
"DEWA has been committed to sponsoring the Dubai International Holy Quran Award since its inception due to its significant role in serving the Holy Quran and spreading Islamic culture. The Award underscores the cultural and Islamic aspects of the UAE while encouraging Muslim communities worldwide to dedicate more time and effort to memorising and reciting the Holy Quran, especially during the Holy Month of Ramadan, a time of worship, virtue, and drawing closer to Allah Almighty. We commend the efforts of the Award organisers in honouring distinguished individuals and organisations that serve Islam globally, supporting Holy Quran memorisers from across the globe, and showcasing the UAE's commitment to serving the Holy Quran and recognising those who memorise and recite it," added Al Tayer.
“We consider the partnership with DEWA as a strategic partnership that serves Dubai’s major events and activities. The Dubai International Holy Quran Award, which was founded and sponsored by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, is one of the most important major Dubai events that takes place during the Holy Month of Ramadan. There is no doubt that DEWA’s sponsorship is important to us in the award, and this sponsorship began right from the establishment of this award, more than twenty-five years ago. I extend my sincere thanks to DEWA’s management for their keenness to continue this and I also thank the staff who are keen to attend part of the final competition every year,” said HE Ibrahim Mohammed Bu Melha, Adviser to the Ruler of Dubai for Cultural and Humanitarian Affairs and Head of the Award Organising Committee.
