“At Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), we are guided by the sustainable and steadfast approach set by our Founding Father the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may his soul rest in peace. This approach is further supported by the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; and Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s  Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood (Mother of the Nation).

This approach is instrumental in enhancing women’s contribution to realising national accomplishments and empowering their active participation in effecting positive change, thus upholding the UAE’s esteemed reputation. At DEWA, we are committed to involving women in decision-making and implementation processes to ensure the inclusion of all segments of society in the comprehensive sustainable development efforts and in achieving the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050.

We firmly believe in women’s ability to excel in various leadership, management, and technical positions, and in their capacity to leverage the promising opportunities presented by digital transformation and disruptive technologies. This reinforces their constructive contribution to climate action, accelerates the energy transition, and facilitates remarkable achievements alongside their male colleagues, thereby supporting national and global climate ambitions and advancing DEWA’s excellence and leadership as one of the premier utilities worldwide," said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

"There are currently 1,939 female employees at DEWA, including 1,914 in administrative and middle-management positions, and many others in leadership roles. DEWA Women’s Committee plays an integral role in realising DEWA’s strategic objectives by fostering a supportive environment for female employees, enabling them to overcome challenges and contribute effectively to nation-building and future generations. The committee organises events and programmes aimed at helping female employees achieve a balance between their professional and social lives. Additionally, it encourages continuous education and the acquisition of knowledge and skills to enhance job performance and family life at various levels. This, in turn, contributes to their happiness, the well-being of their families, and their ability to support ambitious national plans," added Al Tayer.
