“On 19 Ramadan every year, we celebrate Zayed Humanitarian Work Day, which commemorates the passing away of the Father of our nation, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may his soul rest in peace, who laid the foundations for the development of the UAE. Sheikh Zayed established a unique and lasting humanitarian role model in generosity and goodness. He spearheaded the wise approach, followed by the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. This approach has consolidated the UAE’s position as a global capital for goodness and sustainable humanitarian work, becoming one of the largest donors worldwide and a leading source of charitable and development aid, and an incubator of hope for the less fortunate around the world. This day represents the humanitarian legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed and the principles instilled by him in the hearts of Emiratis. These include giving, helping others, and solidarity. It is an opportunity to renew our commitment to the values of giving and extending a helping hand for all, both inside and outside the UAE. We believe in the importance of humanitarian work in achieving sustainable development and building more compassionate communities,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA).
