HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), welcomed a high-level delegation headed by HE Ahmad bin Meshar, Secretary General of the Supreme Legislation Committee in the Emirate of Dubai (SLC). The meeting, which aimed to strengthen strategic partnerships among government entities in Dubai, underscored the importance of collaboration and teamwork in achieving government excellence and enhancing organisational efficiency.
During the meeting, Al Tayer emphasised that the partnership with the Supreme Legislation Committee is aligned with DEWA’s commitment to the vision of the wise leadership to embed a culture of sustainable excellence and position the Government of Dubai as a global benchmark for excellence.
"We believe that excellence is not just a goal but an ongoing journey that demands strategic and integrated co-operation among government organisations. Through this collaboration with the Supreme Legislation Committee, we aim to enhance organisational efficiency and adopt global best practice to achieve exceptional accomplishments that reinforce Dubai's leadership globally," said Al Tayer.
"For us, excellence and digital transformation are daily tasks, implemented according to specific strategies and plans that aim to develop work mechanisms and deliver quality services. This ensures the happiness of customers and all stakeholders. We also promote the concept of sustainable excellence by institutionalising its standards and sharing our best practices and leading experiences with public and private sector organisations worldwide. Our goal is to elevate government work to the highest global standards and ensure the happiness of customers and society at large," added Al Tayer.
Bin Meshar expressed pride in the partnership between the SLC and DEWA, acknowledging DEWA’s significant contributions to enhancing the SLC’s organisational performance.
“We are deeply grateful for DEWA’s impactful role in supporting our recognition during our inaugural participation in the Dubai Government Excellence Programme (DGEP) 2024. We are committed to strengthening our partnerships with leading entities across various sectors to further solidify Dubai’s position as a global leader in institutional efficiency and government excellence. Looking ahead, we eagerly anticipate expanding our collaboration with DEWA, as we firmly believe that joint institutional efforts are key to achieving Dubai’s ambitious development goals,” said Bin Meshar.
Over the past year, DEWA has played a pivotal role in supporting the SLC’s efforts to enhance organisational performance through several strategic initiatives. These included intensive workshops and training programmes for SLC management and employees, promoting awareness of organisational excellence standards and global best practices.
DEWA also conducted three comprehensive assessments across all organisational units against organisational excellence standards to identify gaps, develop improvement plans, and implement them effectively. These efforts included reviewing presentations, holding regular progress meetings, and providing ongoing support to ensure the achievement of objectives.
As a result of these collaborative efforts, the SLC qualified for excellence during its inaugural participation in the DGEP 2024, achieving recognition for meeting the foundational standards of excellence. This achievement reflects the fruitful cooperation between the two organisations. The SLC’s senior management praised DEWA’s team for its pivotal role in achieving this success.
“We are proud of this constructive partnership, which has enabled the SLC to attain advanced levels of excellence. This success is the outcome of a comprehensive action plan implemented over the past two years and the dedicated efforts of DEWA’s team, particularly Emirati talent, which played a key role in the training and evaluation processes,” said Waleed bin Salman, Executive Vice President for Business Development and Excellence at DEWA.
