HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), honoured 231 employees with the Nujoom DEWA internal excellence awards for the second half of 2024. The awards recognised their contributions to enhancing DEWA’s competitiveness and consolidating its leading position across various fields.

In his speech during the ceremony, Al Tayer praised the distinguished employees who have excelled and contributed, through their sincere efforts and creativity, to enhancing DEWA’s position as one of the best utilities worldwide. He emphasised that excellence is not merely a goal for DEWA but a firm approach and a solid foundation for achieving its vision as a globally leading, sustainable and innovative corporation committed to achieving net-zero by 2050.

“His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has established standards of excellence in government work through a proactive vision based on innovation and readiness for the future. This vision, grounded in performance quality and service improvement, has made the Government of Dubai a global benchmark for government excellence. It has strengthened its leadership in service development, speed of delivery and facilitation of people’s lives, thereby enhancing their quality of life. Inspired by the wisdom and vision of a leader of excellence, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who once said: “Excellence is a culture in the UAE. What we have accomplished in terms of development and progress in every sphere of life is the result of our commitment to meet the aspirations of our people”, we adopt sustainable excellence as an ingrained methodology in all our services and activities. We have clear strategies and a road map to ensure continuous progress and development across all areas,” said Al Tayer.

Al Tayer noted that Nujoom DEWA awards are part of DEWA’s strategy to invest in its human cadres, whom it considers to be the main pillar of DEWA’s success. The awards reflect DEWA’s commitment to providing a motivating working environment that offers opportunities to develop skills and foster creativity. Creativity and innovation are the foundations of outstanding achievements at all levels.

As we celebrate your achievements for the second half of 2024, I urge you to continue your journey of excellence and to act as ambassadors in spreading a culture of excellence among your colleagues. I also encourage all DEWA employees to draw inspiration from your successes and to follow your example in achieving further personal and institutional accomplishments,” concluded Al Tayer addressing the winners.

Waleed Bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence at DEWA, highlighted that the Nujoom DEWA internal excellence awards aim to foster a culture of organisational excellence and positive competition among DEWA employees and divisions. He noted that the awards are based on the highest international standards including the Dubai Government Excellence Program.

The awards included 11 categories for professional excellence: Distinguished Supervisory Employee, Distinguished Administrative Employee, Distinguished Employee in the Financial Field, Innovative Employees, Distinguished Specialised Employee, Distinguished Technical/Engineering Employee, Distinguished Youth Employee, Distinguished Field Employee, Distinguished Customer Happiness Employee, Distinguished Call Centre Employee and the Unknown Soldier.

Within the distinguished administrative categories, DEWA honoured the Innovative Administrative Initiative, the Distinguished Technical Project and the Best Initiative in Data Science and AI. It also honoured the best project/initiative attaining sustainability standards, and the Best Corporate Agile Project. The awards also included two categories of institutional excellence: the sector with the happiest work environment for large divisions, and the Environmental Excellence Award. DEWA also honoured winners of the Share.K Award (for individuals and teams), the ‘Loyalty Award’, the Best Cable Jointer and the best consumption performance monitoring team. Additionally, stakeholders' happiness coordinators and the external awards team were recognised, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to institutional excellence. In recognition of DEWA’s achievement of 97.01% in the Dubai Government Customer Happiness Survey 2024, Al Tayer honoured DEWA’s team for this accomplishment.

Nujoom DEWA winners expressed their appreciation to DEWA’s top management for honouring the distinguished employees and fostering a positive and encouraging work environment that helps them grow and succeed.
