DEWA celebrates its move to Al Shera’a, a sustainable architectural icon in Dubai

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), expressed his deepest gratitude and appreciation to HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for inaugurating Al Shera’a, DEWA’s new headquarters. This came during an internal celebration of the move to Al Shera’a, held by DEWA, following the building’s official inauguration. The event was attended by DEWA’s Executive Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents and a large number of employees.

In his speech, Al Tayer highlighted His Highness’s remarks at the inauguration, in which he emphasised that “Every achievement should be viewed as a launchpad for new phases of excellence and innovation. Our journey continues, to deliver the best government experience in the world and to build a city that is the best place to live and work.”

Al Tayer said that this iconic landmark, which is considered the tallest, largest, and smartest net positive- government building in the world, is not merely a building; it embodies the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum of anticipating the future, embracing innovation and harnessing the latest artificial intelligence technologies to achieve comprehensive sustainable development. He noted that it is an architectural icon that combines innovation and sustainability.

“Today, we gather at a remarkable moment not only to celebrate moving to our new building, but to mark a pivotal chapter in DEWA’s journey, demonstrating Dubai’s ambitions and its ambitious future vision. It reflects our wise leadership’s belief that true investment begins with people and manifests through a work environment that inspires creativity and fosters excellence. Through Al Shera’a, we aim to establish a new global benchmark for net positive buildings that produce more clean energy than they consume, while providing a smart and sustainable working environment that places people at its core,” said Al Tayer.

“I assure you that neither the building nor smart technologies alone will determine our success. It will come from your minds, your passion and the work culture you embody every single day. You are the most important element in this journey, and it is you who will transform this place into an inspiring environment for creativity, collaboration and excellence,” added Al Tayer, addressing DEWA employees.

“I would like to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to all the teams who contributed to the delivery of this project, and to every employee who has been part of this exceptional journey. Today, we are not only inaugurating a new building; we are opening a new chapter of development and innovation in our workplace environment,” Al Tayer concluded.
