His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), visited DEWA’s Innovation Centre to review the achievements and future plans in visitor engagement and strategic collaborations as well as professional training programmes. Al Tayer was accompanied by Waleed Bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence at DEWA, and other DEWA officials.

DEWA’s clean and renewable energy projects enhance UAE’s efforts in climate action

Thanks to the futuristic vision of the UAE’s wise leadership, the UAE has become one of the biggest countries investing in renewable energy and has made significant achievements in reducing emissions from the energy sector. The Statistical Review of World Energy issued last year by the UK-based Energy Institute revealed that the UAE is one of the top countries using solar energy in the world. According to the report, the UAE is the 6th highest per capita consumer of solar energy globally.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer reviews progress at the 950MW 4th phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has reviewed progress at the 950 megawatt (MW) fourth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. This phase uses the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model with investments totalling AED 15.78 billion. It provides clean energy for approximately 320,000 residences and reduces carbon emissions by 1.6 million tonnes annually.

The technical committee tasked with evaluating applications for the 4th cycle of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Water Award is preparing to conduct the initial review of applications, as the deadline for registration is on 31 May 2024, to ensure they meet all conditions. The biennial award, with total prizes of USD 1 million, is overseen by the UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia UAE). It recognises organisations, research centres, and innovators who develop innovative technologies for water production, distribution, desalination, and purification utilising renewable energy sources. The aim is to develop solutions to the water scarcity challenge facing disadvantaged and vulnerable communities worldwide.

DEWA signs MOU with Parkin to increase the number of ‘EV Green Charger’ stations in Dubai

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Parkin, the largest supplier of paid public parking facilities in Dubai, to expand the number of the EV ‘Green Charger’ stations in several prime locations managed by Parkin. This initiative is a part of DEWA’s ongoing efforts to enhance sustainability, encourage the use of environmentally friendly electric vehicles (EVs), and improve customer experience by facilitating convenient vehicle charging.
