DEWA announces roadmap to becoming world’s first AI-native utility

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has launched DEWA’s strategic roadmap to become the world’s first AI-native utility, leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) across all core operations. Al Tayer made this announcement during GenAI Week, organised by DEWA to explore the future of AI adoption within the organisation. The event featured DEWA experts and specialists alongside representatives of leading AI companies, including Microsoft, IBM, ServiceNow and DataRobot to discuss AI-driven transformation and its applications.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is participating in and organising a range of awareness events and programmes, and field visits throughout Ramadan, as part of its social responsibility to highlight the noble humanitarian values of the Holy Month, which calls for compassion and brotherhood, moderation in various aspects of life and the avoidance of waste. Etihad ESCO completes Dubai’s first energy savings performance contract with proven results

Etihad Energy Services Company (Etihad ESCO), a wholly owned subsidiary of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has announced the completion of Dubai’s first energy savings performance contract (ESPC) with proven results. Launched in 2015, the retrofit project, which involved several buildings, was successfully concluded in 2024. It marks a significant milestone in Dubai's transformation into a smart, green city, offering an innovative model for enhancing energy efficiency in buildings and facilities. The retrofit project further establishes global benchmarks, demonstrating the potential to significantly reduce operational costs through improved operations, in line with the Dubai Demand Side Management Strategy 2050.

Clean energy export from Hatta to Dubai to begin next April

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has announced that the pumped-storage hydroelectric power plant DEWA is developing in Hatta will gradually begin exporting clean energy to Dubai for the first time in April 2025. He added that the operational tests of the clean energy power plant began in January 2025.
