14 male and female employees represent DEWA in Gov Games 2024

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA)’s Sports Committee has revealed that 7 male and 7 female employees will represent DEWA in the 5th Gov Games, one of the most notable events on Dubai’s sports agenda. The games are held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, from 29 February to 3 March 2024.

Environmental practices are a key pillar to meet DEWA’s commitment to leadership as a global organisation. DEWA is keen to achieve the environmental, social, and economic aspects of sustainability, to support the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050 to provide 100% of the energy production capacity from clean energy sources by 2050, as well as the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030.

DEWA’s Innovation Centre and Gulf Renewable Energy Lab organise a training course on renewable energy projects

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA)’s Innovation Centre, in cooperation with the Gulf Renewable Energy Lab, organised an intensive training on the basic factors that play a decisive role in ensuring the development and delivery of a renewable energy project in accordance with global best practices in the renewable energy sector. The training course is part of DEWA’s professional certification programmes and training courses that aim to expand and promote clean and renewable energy projects and accelerate the energy transition. Graduates of the programme received the ‘Financial Modelling & Analysis of Renewable Energy Projects’ international certificate.

DEWA sustains its excellence with prestigious regional and international awards

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) won 23 prestigious regional and international awards in 2023, increasing the number of awards it received between 2015 and 2023 to 433 (70 local, 73 regional, and 290 global). DEWA also marked another breakthrough by entering the Guinness World Records for breaking the world record for the largest Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) project in the world with the tallest CSP tower at 263.126 metres; and the largest thermal energy storage plant at 5,907 megawatt hours at the 4th phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.

DEWA and Masdar reach financial closing on 1800MW 6th phase of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar), announced the financial closing of the 1800-megawatt sixth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest single-site solar park in the world. The solar park’s capacity will exceed 5,000 megawatt by 2030, with investments totalling approximately AED 50 billion. This is a new milestone in promoting the use of clean and renewable energy in the UAE.

DEWA received 6,235 innovative ideas from its employees in 2023 on Afkari platform

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) received 6,235 innovative ideas in 2023 through the Afkari internal platform, designed to encourage employees to be innovative and creative. So far, 85% of the approved ideas have been implemented. This has contributed to supporting the innovation and development of DEWA’s services and achieving the highest global competitiveness indicators. These include the lowest electricity Customer Minutes Lost (CML) in the world at just 1.06 minutes per customer annually, 100% availability of electricity and water network services and 99.99% availability of DEWA’s key digital services.

DEWA gets full mark in accessibility of people of determination to its website and smart app, according to Digital Dubai 2023 Report

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has made exceptional achievements in compliance with government standards related to accessibility of People of Determination (POD) to its website and smart app. DEWA’s smart app scored 10/10 for the fourth consecutive year, and its website scored 100% for the third consecutive year, according to the 2023 POD Accessibility Evaluation Report by Digital Dubai Authority.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has become a global benchmark in key performance indicators (KPIs) in its areas of work. In 2023, DEWA received over 100 benchmarking visits by prominent local and international companies and organisations. The visits aimed to learn about DEWA’s experiences and practices as a leading utility company. DEWA has set unprecedented global standards in the energy and water sectors and came in the top position globally in more than 10 KPIs in its areas of work, according to a study conducted last year by a specialised international consultant.
