DEWA’s Future Engineer summer camp marks 10 years of empowering young minds for a sustainable future

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) concluded its 16th Future Engineer summer camp, held from 4 August to 15 August, with 30 pupils aged 10 to 12 taking part – all children of DEWA employees. Since its inception a decade ago, the camp has welcomed 494 participants, many of whom have pursued careers in engineering, reflecting the programme’s lasting influence. This achievement reflects DEWA’s commitment to preparing young minds for a future shaped by modern sciences and technology, and ensuring they are well-equipped to contribute to Dubai’s sustainable development.

World Green Economy Summit 2025 highlights climate policy as a pillar of sustainable global transformation

Over 260 Chinese companies set to participate at WETEX 2025

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced that more than 260 Chinese exhibitors will participate in the Water, Energy and Environment Technology Exhibition (WETEX) in a dedicated pavilion spanning over 2,800 square metres. Organised by DEWA, the 27th edition of WETEX will take place at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 30 September to 2 October 2025. DEWA’s Marafeq Smart Feature powers 9% annual rise in infrastructure NOC approvals in H1 2025

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) recorded a 9% year-on-year increase in approved applications for no-objection certificates (NOCs) for infrastructure and information services during the first half of 2025. HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, has attributed the growth to the Marafeq Smart Feature, which streamlines NOC issuance, enhances co-ordination with other Dubai utilities and supports the delivery of top-tier government services. Since its launch, the Marafeq Smart Feature has facilitated the approval of 43,816 NOCs up to the end of June 2025.

DEWA’s summer programmes engage young minds and People of Determination in AI, robotics and sustainability workshops

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) annually organises a series of events and activities to invest young people and People of Determination’s (POD) time during the summer vacation by enhancing their theoretical and practical skills in sustainability, artificial intelligence, robotics, engineering, science and mathematics. The programmes promote teamwork and responsibility and strengthen national identity and noble Emirati values. These include the Summer Camp for People of Determination, orphans and employees' children, ‘Future Engineer’ camps, and in-person and virtual awareness lectures in collaboration with government and private entities across the UAE and Dubai. These support DEWA’s wider community outreach efforts to engage all members of society in improving electricity and water consumption efficiency and preserving natural resources.

DEWA’s Al Namoos service sees 20.4% increase in commercial electricity connection requests driven by urban expansion

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has said that thanks to the wise directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Dubai has become a city that never ceases to grow and prosper, and its highly future-ready infrastructure has become a global model of efficiency, reliability, quality and sustainability. DEWA’s Green Hydrogen project surpasses 100 tonnes in output since 2021 launch

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced that DEWA’s Green Hydrogen project has produced more than 100 tonnes of green hydrogen since its launch in May 2021. Most of this was used to produce over 1.15 gigawatt hours (GWh) of clean electricity via a hydrogen gas engine, helping to abate more than 515 tonnes of carbon dioxide. Over 11 tonnes were shipped to ENOC, which were used to fuel hydrogen vehicles at ENOC’s Service Station of the Future at Expo 2020 Dubai, and to power other industrial applications.

Hatta exports power to Dubai

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), announced the beginning of trial operation and electricity export from the pumped-storage hydroelectric power plant in Hatta to Dubai. This announcement was made during his visit to the project to review progress in the final stages of work, where the amount of energy produced during the past period of the station's operational testing exceeded 17,921 megawatt-hours. The plant will have a production capacity of 250 megawatts (MW), a storage capacity of 1,500 megawatt-hours and a lifespan of up to 80 years. The peak electricity demand in Hatta is approximately 39 MW and the surplus will be exported to Dubai.
