DEWA launches the Metaverse and Digital Twin Hackathon in collaboration with the Higher Colleges of Technology

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has organised a Metaverse and Digital Twin Hackathon, in collaboration with the Higher Colleges of Technology in Dubai and Sharjah. This is in line with its continuous efforts to strengthen Dubai’s position as an incubator for creativity and a beacon of innovation; to ensure Dubai remains at the forefront of cities that anticipate and shape the future. 24 students participated in the Hackathon. The Hackathon included workshops on DEWA and Metaverse and DEWA and Digital Twin to motivate and inspire participants to create advanced technology solutions through designs and prototypes.

DEWA appoints consultant for implementing the 6th phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has appointed a consortium of companies led by Ernst & Young (EY Consulting) to provide consultancy services for implementing the 6th phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park based on the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model. The 900MW 6th phase, which will use photovoltaic solar panels, will become operational in stages between 2025 and 2027.

DEWA’s Innovation Centre launches a smart app to provide a unique experience to visitors using Metaverse and Augmented Reality

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA’s) Innovation Centre has launched its smart app (MBRSIC) on Android and iOS platforms. Through the app, users can explore the Centre’s sections and go on a virtual tour using augmented reality. Using the Metaverse technology, the Innovation Centre at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park provides a unique and innovative experience for its visitors where they can go on a virtual tour across the Solar Park. The experience also includes innovative shows using drones and hologram technology. Visitors to the Centre can also try the autonomous bus ride, as well as other innovative technologies.

High-level delegation from Chile visits Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park in Dubai

A high-level delegation from the Republic of Chile, headed by HE Ximena Fuentes Torrijo, Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs of Chile, and HE Patricio Diaz Broughton, Ambassador of Chile to the UAE, visited the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park in Dubai. The solar park, by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), is the largest single-site solar park in the world based on the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model. DEWA commissions 389 11kV substations in Q3 of 2022 with 404,712 working hours

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has commissioned 389 11kV substations in Dubai in the third quarter of 2022. This is part of its efforts to deliver a state-of-the-art infrastructure according to the highest international standards. These stations are mainly located at Wadi Al Safa Fifth, Al Merkad, Madinat Al Matar and Al Yalayis 1. The construction of the substations and jobs related to new customers resulted in a total of 404,712 man hours, according to the highest standards of quality, efficiency and safety, while following all precautionary measures.

DEWA’s Women Committee hosts the Pink Caravan during Breast Cancer Awareness Month

In conjunction with the International Month for Breast Cancer Awareness, which falls in October every year, the Women’s Committee at Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) hosted the Pink Caravan, for its female employees to create awareness on early detection of breast cancer and ways to prevent it. The sessions in Arabic and English, were attended by more than 100 female employees from various divisions.
