“Volunteering is a civilised approach that stems from the foundations of the UAE, and one of the authentic values instilled by the late Founding Father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may his soul rest in peace, who consolidated volunteering since the early days of the Union. This is supported by the wise vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to promote volunteering and community cohesion as a noble human value. At Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), we seek to be one of the largest contributors to supporting the integrated and sustainable volunteering system in the UAE and Dubai. This is by launching and sponsoring several pioneering humanitarian and volunteer initiatives. DEWA is one of the leading organisations, locally and globally, in social responsibility,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

“DEWA works to raise the sense of social responsibility and consolidate the spirit of volunteering among all its employees and members of society. DEWA’s employees compete in patriotism and humanity, which indicate the depth of their spirit and readiness to assume responsibility and give back to the community. Between 2013 and 2021, DEWA launched more than 380 community initiatives, with employees recording 162,493 volunteer hours in humanitarian and community initiatives, benefiting 36,514,842 people in the UAE and abroad. In 2021, the community happiness rate for DEWA was 94.1%,” added Al Tayer.
