“On the 9th Emirati Women’s Day, we look back upon the path of women’s elevation and empowerment, set forth by the late Founding Father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. This path continues, thanks to the wise directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; and Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood (Mother of the Nation). Our wise leadership supports the development of Emirati women, so they can unleash their creativity and capabilities to remain effective partners in the nation’s prosperity and an integral pillar to achieving a sustainable future. Held under the theme ‘We Collaborate for Tomorrow’, Emirati Women’s Day gains special importance in the Year of Sustainability and with the ongoing preparations for the UAE to host COP 28 at Expo City Dubai in November. The conference is an opportunity to brief the world on the UAE’s accomplishments in enhancing women’s contribution to mitigating climate change through innovative solutions to environmental challenges. At DEWA, we realise our responsibility to provide all opportunities and tools to elevate Emirati women’s participation in our projects to achieve the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050. We encourage our female employees to continue to work hard and support DEWA’s position as an outstanding and leading utility worldwide. DEWA is one of the most prominent government organisations supporting women in the energy sector, especially renewable and clean energy and sustainability. It focuses on empowering women in all positions. This has made it a model for public and private entities in the UAE and abroad,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

“DEWA provides a positive and motivational environment for its female employees that supports the development of their personal and life skills to prove their capabilities. It also helps them build cohesive and happy families. We currently have 1,936 female employees working in all our divisions. This includes 734 female employees in the engineering and technical sector, while 422 female employees occupy leadership positions at DEWA. Emirati female employees constitute 84% of the total female workforce at DEWA,” added Al Tayer.
