DEWA’s general assembly approves dividend payment of AED 3.1 billion to shareholders for H2 of 2024

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority PJSC (ISIN: AED001801011) (Symbol: DEWA), the Emirate of Dubai’s exclusive electricity and water services provider, which is listed on the Dubai Financial Market (DFM), reported that its shareholders have, in the general assembly held today (21 March 2025), approved the payment of total dividend of AED 3.1 billion for H2 of 2024, with a record date of 31 March 2025.

DEWA consolidates the concept of happiness as a sustainable lifestyle and approach

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is dedicated to achieving its paramount goal of enhancing stakeholder happiness by providing experiences, services and programmes that exemplify its leadership and excellence across all fields. To this end, DEWA has embedded this goal within its strategy, achieving distinguished results in customer happiness. DEWA achieved an impressive score of 98.6% on the Dubai Government’s Instant Happiness Index, managed by the Dubai Digital Authority. According to the Dubai Government Customer Happiness Index, DEWA achieved 97.01% in 2024, while employee happiness was 90%. Happiness regarding DEWA’s social initiatives was 95% in 2024 compared with 82% in 2013. Additionally, DEWA’s partner happiness rating was 95.15% and that of government entities was 96.07% in 2024. Suppliers’ happiness reached 93.39%, a 2.61% increase compared with 2023.

Etihad ESCO completes Dubai’s first energy savings performance contract with proven results

Etihad Energy Services Company (Etihad ESCO), a wholly owned subsidiary of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has announced the completion of Dubai’s first energy savings performance contract (ESPC) with proven results. Launched in 2015, the retrofit project, which involved several buildings, was successfully concluded in 2024. It marks a significant milestone in Dubai's transformation into a smart, green city, offering an innovative model for enhancing energy efficiency in buildings and facilities. The retrofit project further establishes global benchmarks, demonstrating the potential to significantly reduce operational costs through improved operations, in line with the Dubai Demand Side Management Strategy 2050.

Value of DEWA's 132kV transmission projects rises to AED 2.1 billion

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), announced that DEWA commissioned 13 new 132kV substations with a conversion capacity of 1,950 megavolt amperes during 2024. DEWA also installed 127 kilometres of ground cables to connect the substations to the main transmission network. This is part of DEWA’s ongoing efforts to keep pace with the urban expansion in Dubai. The total value of DEWA’s investments in existing and completed 132kV transmission projects in 2024 reached AED 2.1 billion.

DEWA invites international developers to submit expressions of interest for the 1,600MW 7th phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, with 1,000MW of energy storage

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has invited international developers to submit expressions of interest for a tender to develop the 1,600-megawatt (MW) seventh phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. This phase, which is expandable to 2,000MW, will use photovoltaic solar panels and a battery energy storage system with a capacity of 1,000MW for six hours, providing a total storage capacity of 6,000 megawatt-hours (MWh). This will make it one of the world’s largest solar-plus-storage projects. The phase will be implemented under the independent power producer (IPP) model. DEWA has invited international developers or consortia to submit their expressions of interest by 21 March 2025.
