DEWA wins two Reuters Global Energy Transition Awards

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has won two Reuters Global Energy Transition Awards 2025, presented by Thomson Reuters, the international news agency. DEWA received the awards in recognition of its efforts to advance sustainability. The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, implemented by DEWA, won the ‘Low Carbon Energy Generation’ award, while DEWA’s Sustainability and Innovation Centre won the ‘Transition Advocator’ award.

The fifth edition of the Emirates Energy Award attracts 240 entries from 24 countries

DEWA issues 51 ‘D33 Industry Friendly Power Certificates’

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has issued 51 ‘D33 Industry Friendly Power Certificates’ to 24 companies in Dubai since the launch of the initiative in January 2024. The initiative allows certified industrial customers, agri-tech enterprises and data centres to install photovoltaic (PV) solar systems for internal use, potentially covering up to 100% of their total energy requirements.

DEWA’s Green Charger Initiative powers EVs in Dubai with more than 39,159 MWh of electricity in a decade

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), announced that DEWA’s Green Charger initiative has witnessed a 23.6% increase in electric vehicle (EV) charging use at the end of Q1 2025, compared to the same period in 2024. Since the programme’s inception in 2015, DEWA has provided more than 39,159 MWh of electricity for EV charging across Dubai, powering a cumulative EV distance of 195 million kilometres.
