Mohammed bin Rashid witnesses signing of agreement between Masdar and DEWA to deliver 6th phase of world’s largest single-site solar park PV Project

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, witnessed the signing of an agreement between the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority PJSC (DEWA) and Masdar, Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC, to build and operate the 1,800 megawatt (MW) sixth phase of the landmark Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, featuring a cost of up to AED5.51 billion.

DEWA’s 30 MIG water reservoir in Hatta is around 89.42% complete, at cost of AED 86 million

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), inspected the work progress of the 30 million imperial gallons (MIG) water reservoir project DEWA is building in Hatta. The project, which costs approximately AED 86 million, is 89.42% complete is expected to be completed in Q4, 2023.

DEWA organises 121 awareness & training sessions for its employees on occupational health and safety in the first half of 2023

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) organised 121 training courses and awareness sessions on occupational health and safety in the first half of 2023, with the participation of 2,233 employees from all divisions. DEWA also organised various activities in all aspects of occupational health and safety, supporting its ongoing efforts to promote a culture of occupational health and safety among employees and provide a healthy and safe work environment according to the highest international standards.

DEWA commissioned 7 new 132 kV transmission substations in the first half of 2023

In line with its ongoing efforts to enhance the reliability and availability of the energy transmission system in the Emirate, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) commissioned seven new 132 transmission substations in the first half of 2023. The projects included 36 kilometres of 132kV ground cables, to enhance the efficiency of energy transmission network. Completing the substations in Al Jaddaf, Al Hebiah Fourth, Al Rigga, Jebel Ali Port, Marsa Dubai, Al Yufrah, and Jebel Ali 2, required more than 6.8 million safe working hours.

DEWA’s Innovation Centre enriches educational activities for sustainability awareness

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA)’s Innovation Centre at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, has received field visits with students from over 200 public and private institutions around the UAE. The Centre also received many students in summer programmes and camps organised by various institutions and entities this summer for the children of their employees. These include Dubai Municipality’s Summer Environmental Education Programme; and the Watani Al Emarat Foundation’s Sustainability Pioneers Camp.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), inspected the work progress at the 950MW 4th phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. This phase uses the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model with investments up to AED 15.78 billion. It is set to provide clean energy for approximately 320,000 residences and reduce carbon emissions by 1.6 million tonnes annually.
