DEWA enhances water security in Dubai through 3 water reservoirs with storage capacity of 210 MIG and investments of about AED 550 million

To enhance water security, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is increasing the storage capacity of desalinated water in Dubai. DEWA’s 250MW Hatta hydroelectric power plant is 44% complete

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), visited the pumped-storage hydroelectric power station being built by DEWA in Hatta, to review its progress. The station is 44% complete. It will have a production capacity of 250 megawatts (MW), a storage capacity of 1,500 megawatt-hours and a life span of up to 80 years. This is the first station of its kind in the GCC, with investments up to AED 1.421 billion.

DEWA celebrates World Environment Day 2022

In conjunction with World Environment Day, observed on 5 June every year and held this year under the theme ‘Only One Earth’, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) organised several internal and external activities. It also launched an awareness campaign on its social media accounts to encourage society members to conserve electricity and water consumption and adopt sustainable practices that protect the environment and natural resources. These include using digital services, electric vehicles, installing solar photovoltaic panels, planting trees and reducing plastic.

DEWA’s R&D Centre registers a patent for charging UAVs

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s (DEWA)’s Research & Development Centre has registered a new patent for an Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) charging system that enables continuous charging for UAVs and thus provide longer flying hours with a large storage capacity. This is in addition to improving the efficiency of charging and facilitating the charging process. The innovative system uses a group of UAVs to charge the main one through electromagnetic induction.
