DEWA launches new sustainability training programme in collaboration with TÜV Rheinland Academy

The Sustainability and Innovation Centre of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), in collaboration with TÜV Rheinland Academy, has launched the first cycle of the Sustainability Principles training programme. Students and other participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of sustainability and its importance across various fields. Adding to the centre’s existing nine professional training courses, which have seen more than 220 individuals earn accredited certificates, the programme is the fourth collaborative effort between the centre and TÜV Rheinland Academy.

DEWA announced as Strategic Sustainability Partner of Arab Media Summit 2025

The Dubai Press Club (DPC), organiser of the Arab Media Summit (AMS) 2025, today announced that the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is the Strategic Sustainability Partner of the event. Organised under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Middle East’s largest media thought leadership platform will be held from 26-28 May.

HE Saeed Al Tayer and Austria’s Federal Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism discuss co-operation to enhance sustainable development and the transition to green energy

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), welcomed HE Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer, the Federal Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism of Austria, and HE Etienne Berchtold, the Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to the UAE. The meeting was attended by Waleed bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence at DEWA; Dr Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources; and Marwan Bin Haidar, Executive Vice President of Innovation and the Future at DEWA.

DEWA enables communities to uphold environmental responsibility for a sustainable future

For years, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has organised mangrove-planting and beach clean-up campaigns at Jebel Ali Marine Sanctuary, in co-operation with the Emirates Marine Environmental Group. These campaigns – in which DEWA Group employees, their families and DEWA Academy students have been involved – have helped to improve water quality and marine life habitats in the reserve, and led to an increase in the number of mangrove trees, which are natural carbon reservoirs.

The UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia UAE) showcased its most significant achievements over the past decade at the 21st Dubai International Humanitarian Aid and Development (DIHAD) exhibition held from 29 April to 1 May 2025. DIHAD 2025, which took place at the Dubai World Trade Centre, was held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

DEWA’s Youth Council organises art workshops during the Sikka Art and Design Festival in collaboration with Dubai Culture

The Youth Council of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), in collaboration with Dubai Culture, organised a number of art workshops on the sidelines of the 13th Sikka Art and Design Festival, held under the patronage of HH Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), in Al Shindagha Historic Neighbourhood. This comes in line with DEWA’s efforts to support theDubai Social Agenda 33. The workshops saw the participation of 38 young male and female DEWA employees seeking to develop their skills in art inspired by authentic Emirati heritage, including sculptures, Islamic geometric patterns and wooden inscriptions on doors, as well as abstract water paintings of coral reefs and the process of preparing sweets.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has reviewed progress at Al Shera’a Building, DEWA’s headquarters in Al Jaddaf, Dubai. This sustainable architectural masterpiece will be the tallest, largest and smartest energy-positive government building in the world. Al Shera’a’s built-up area exceeds two million square feet and the value of the project has reached approximately AED 1.5 billion. Construction, engineering and procurement works are scheduled to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Dubai to host 27th WETEX, one of the world’s largest specialised exhibitions, in September 2025

DEWA organises workshop on fire safety in collaboration with Dubai Civil Defence

The Women’s Committee of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) organised a training workshop, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Dubai Civil Defence (DCD), on the basics of fire prevention and safety, and how to deal with fires when they break out. Sixty female DEWA employees were trained on evacuation procedures and the use of extinguishers to suppress fires. The workshop highlighted the importance of personal safety and that of others, as well as the need to maintain calm to avoid panic and scrambling. They also learnt about key practices to reduce fire risks and the necessary precautionary measures to prevent blazes.

DEWA registered 4.51% annual rise in electricity connection requests for Dubai commercial projects in 2024

DEWA strengthens co-operation with the Shell Group of Companies

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), met Fakher Bader, Country Chairman of the Shell Group of Companies in Iraq and the UAE, to discuss measures to strengthen partnerships in renewable energy, innovation and sustainable development. The meeting emphasised the shared commitment of both parties to support not only the global energy transition to reach net-zero emissions by 2050, but also the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050 to provide 100% of the Emirate’s energy production capacity from clean energy sources by 2050.
