DEWA’s IPP projects enhance promising investments flow to the UAE and Dubai

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), announced that the capacity of DEWA’s current projects with the private sector using the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model exceed 4,000 megawatts (MW), with investments amounting to more than AED 40 billion. He noted that through this model, DEWA was able to save an additional investment of approximately AED 26 billion, which allows DEWA to invest in other infrastructure projects

DEWA reminds its customers of the importance of promptly detecting & fixing water leakages

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has reiterated the importance of conducting periodic checks on internal water connections and potential leak sites in homes, buildings and facilities, to check internal connections and repair any leaks in water connections immediately with the help of a specialised technician. This is part of its efforts to establish a culture of sustainability among society members. This will help preserve natural resources, and prevent water waste and any property damage. DEWA indicated that its scope of responsibility for connections and maintenance is limited to the meter only, while the responsibility for the internal connections after the meter rests with the customer, and this includes the residential, commercial and industrial sectors.

DEWA completes 57% construction of water microfiltration units in Hatta

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA)’s construction of 3 million imperial gallons per day (MIGD) Water Microfiltration Units in Hatta is 57% complete. The project will be completed by the end of this year. These units refine and sterilise the water of Hatta dam to use it only in emergencies. The units will be used in case of faults in water transmission and distribution networks from Dubai to Hatta.

Society Happiness recorded at 94.10% for DEWA’s programmes and initiatives in 2021

437 employees participated in DEWA sports tournaments in H1 of 2022

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) organised four sports tournaments in the first half of 2022. This is part of DEWA’s efforts to encourage employees to follow a healthy lifestyle and make physical activities part of their daily lives. A total of 437 employees from various DEWA divisions took part in the competitions: 200 employees participated in the Cricket Tournament, 82 employees took part in the Padel Tournament, 80 employees took part in the Chess Tournament, and 75 employees took part in the Swimming Championship. The tournaments were organised at DEWA Campus for Occupational and Academic Development, the G-Force Cricket Academy and the World Padel Academy.

DEWA achieves 98.1% in Dubai Digital Authority’s Instant Happiness Index until end of June 2022

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) scored 98.1% in the Dubai Government’s Instant Happiness Index by Dubai Digital Authority, until end of June 2022. For the past five years, DEWA has come first among large government organisations in Dubai Digital Authority’s Instant Happiness Index. In 2021, DEWA obtained more than 665,000 customer votes on all channels, achieving 97.9%, compared to 96.3% in 2020, ranking first among all entities that adopt the Instant Happiness Index. DEWA also scored more than 90% in the Happiness Index for the Government of Dubai customers, conducted by the Dubai Government Excellence Program 2021.

Power transmission system in Dubai is ‘Best in Class’ worldwide at 100% availability and reliability

Adopting the latest smart technologies and innovative practices across all its services and operations have contributed to Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) achieving 100% in power transmission system reliability and availability and the ‘Best in Class’ among global utilities since 2018. DEWA provides its services to around 3.5 million people who live in Dubai, and over 4.7 million people during the day. These numbers are expected to rise to 5.8 million and 7.8 million respectively, by 2040.
